WWN Skill Building Programs

In response to increasing pressures and difficulties in initiating and sustaining a research career, WWN-IBRO is establishing two new skill building programs for 2026. These programs are comprised of 4-6 sessions focused on providing practical knowledge on a specific core topic, culminating with attendees receiving a certificate of completion (CME format). We are starting with two such programs in 2026:

  1. Research Management 101 (May-July 2026)
  2. Scientific Writing (TBD)

Research Management 101
Early-career neuroscientists are often expected to lead labs, secure funding, and manage teams, without ever being formally trained to do so. To bridge this gap, #WorldWomenNeuro, in collaboration with IBRO, is launching a Skill Building Program called “Research Management 101” designed to support you in building and leading your first research lab.

The theme for this #WWNSkillBuilding program is Launch & Lead: Building Your First Lab with Purpose, People, and Partnerships

Over 5 sessions, this program will equip you with:
 – Leadership and goal-setting strategies
 – Tools to build and manage a research team
 – Insights on funding, collaborations, and sustainability
 – Approaches to creating inclusive lab environments

Session line-up:

  • May 19: Building Your Vision
  • June 2: Building Your Lab Culture Before It Builds Itself
  • June 16: Building Resources & Leveraging Collaborations
  • June 30: Building Your Community Inside and Out
  • July 14: Building Inclusive and Intentional Mentoring
